Pain Management: PRP Injections (Platelet-Rich Plasma) & Shockwave Therapy

Doctors of Waikiki is taking an exciting step forward by offering cutting-edge treatments: Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and Shockwave Therapy. These innovative therapies address chronic pain and soft tissue/joint injuries while enhancing overall wellness and longevity.

PRP Injections

What is PRP Therapy?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy uses the patient’s own blood to promote healing and regeneration. After drawing a small amount of blood, it is processed to concentrate platelets, which are rich in growth factors. The PRP is then injected into the target area to accelerate tissue repair and reduce inflammation.

Benets of PRP Therapy:

  • Natural Healing: Uses the patient’s biological material.
  • Versatility: Effective for joint pain, tendon injuries, hair restoration, skin rejuvenation
  • Minimal Downtime: Quick procedure with little recovery needed.

Ideal Candidates:

  • Patients with chronic pain (e.g., knees, shoulders, or elbows ie tennis/golfer’s elbow).
  • Individuals seeking a non-surgical solution for injuries.
  • Patients interested in wellness and anti-aging/longevity therapies

Shockwave Therapy

What is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave Therapy uses acoustic waves to stimulate tissue healing and reduce pain. The
therapy promotes circulation, cellular repair, and the breakdown of calcifications in soft tissues

Benefits of Shockwave Therapy:

● Non-Invasive: No needles or surgical intervention.
● Quick Results: Noticeable pain relief in just a few sessions.
● Broad Applications: Effective for plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, and muscle tightness.

Shockwave therapy

Procedure Highlights:

1. A handheld device delivers focused sound waves to the treatment area.
2. Sessions last 10-20 minutes, depending on the site.
3. Treatment is typically performed once a week for 4-6 weeks.

Ideal Candidates:

● Patients with musculoskeletal pain or sports injuries.
● Those looking for a quick, non-invasive treatment option.
● Individuals seeking enhanced mobility and function.

By using real-time imaging, our providers can accurately identify the source of pain or injury and deliver treatments directly to the target area with enhanced precision.
